Default is Ncsoft THIS bad? Area-52 is probably easier

ok so recently some how god knows how after i came back from a long needed break from GW...

so i put in my un and pw... BAM wrong info... no biggie.. i can reset my pw rite? so i request a pw change..i type i my ncsoft pw..and even THAT is wrong....wtf?

no biggie i can request that they send me a pw recovery thing rite?

WRONG its not even letting me change my ncsoft pw keeps getting me some wier error...

so i open a ticket, i explained my problem gave them my folowing info:
UN (email)
guild wars cdkey
and EVEN the cd key i got for buying a extra char slot. surely THIS would be enough to verify me right?

so ncsoft rep responds to me that they need the credit card number of the CC that i used to buy NF and Factions...now wtf? how am i supposed to remember those?

now they want me to MAIL my cd key out to them so that they can varify....

wow..simply wow
this isnt the FBI files over here..i gave them the correct cd key...

i swear are 52 is probably easier to get into....

any1 else get this junk?

*sends email to Anet with a cd-key ripped from the internet claiming that I lost my password*

Just get an easy to remember password

Isn't that Area 51, or am I missing something funny?

Instead of writing this rant here you could've gone and looked for the info they requested, helping them recover your lost information.

Feel for you though, and hope you get your account back.

I wonder if they'd be okay with a faxed copy of your CD key... that's the same as a photocopy and would get there about two-three days sooner.

Well if he sent them the CD key and the extra slot key, they should be able to see they are linked. I doubt someone on the internet would be able to get the exact combo.

If there is an area-52 I'm sure it's hard to get into that one also.

I recently tried to change my password, couldent remember my origonal ncsoft account info, thought okay ill make another, entered my cd keys into the new one, they didn't even register, and i typed them in exactly correct. The new system is pretty frustrating...i just gave up on it.

Yeah, I had the same problem (at least with my NCSoft account password). I wouldn't be terribly bothered to get into it except you need to login to register for the Tabula Rasa beta. So I managed to find an FAQ on their support site about the information they needed to verify that I was me. So I sent all that information in, except one or two things that there was no way that I would remember. And I got a reply saying they need additional information. This made me sigh in frustration.

So I managed to find all the additional info (luckily I remembered whose credit card I'd used on my account. I really should get around to getting my own). And I got a reply saying my ticket had been escalated to a senior support representative. That was a couple of days ago now. Hopefully it won't take too much longer.

Maybe that's part of the point...

There is no Area 52... there is no password.

Plausible.

You know, if they are demanding this much data, perhaps someone else is also trying to get access and Anet is having trouble determining who the real one is?

The OP is bloody right. Wanted to change my PW, had to get my NCSoft Master Account PW over my Support Account with its own PW.

In the end I tried until I got my PW in the end, after quite some time. Saved me a lot of trouble to go through.

NC Soft is incredibly bureaucratic, it is easier to get a new passport and a new identity.

This does not mean their system is safe with their retarded and limited selection of PW reset questions that you cannot even change to something more specific.

This is a constant problem, recently in alliance chat I read "WTF how can I change my password???" If you have lost it, you are in even bigger trouble.

Their system is indeed totally secure. So secure that even the legal owners have problems to access their own account. Sarcasm off.

That one is amusing though, it made me laugh.

"Area-52" really isn't that amusing.

but apparently it got changed

i know my pw to email

so why cant they just forward me and email?

seriusly i gave them all the info that the REAL owner would have:
gave em email
cd key
char slot cdkey
told them the email i got when i bought NF and Faction and the DATE i bought em....
go figure
this is the stuff that made me leave gw in the 1st place

much better time being the admin at WoW
